Growing Up Littles

When the baby smell is gone, the toddler is no longer toddling and our babies as starting to become "big kids"... it's this stage that really starts to hit you—your little isn’t so little anymore. The baby face starts to fade, they no longer need help tying their shoes, and suddenly, they’re full of opinions, ideas, and so much personality.

This is when their interests start to take shape. Maybe they love music, maybe they’re obsessed with dinosaurs, maybe they want to play every sport under the sun. Whatever it is, this is the time to encourage exploration. Let them try new things, even if they don’t stick with everything.

One of the biggest lessons in this phase? Commitment. Whether it’s finishing a book, sticking with piano lessons, or pushing through a tough soccer season, this is when they start learning about grit, perseverance, and resilience. It’s not always easy watching them struggle, but those challenges help shape them into confident, capable people.

And let’s be honest—it’s bittersweet. Part of you loves seeing them grow into their own, but another part misses the days when they needed you for everything. Where did the time go?

The best thing you can do now? Be their biggest cheerleader. Support their dreams, help them navigate challenges, and remind them that no matter how big they get, they’ll always be your little one.

Time isn’t slowing down, but what a joy it is to watch them soar.

I’d love to hear from you! Have thoughts, questions, or just need another mama’s perspective? Drop me a line and let’s connect—together, we can navigate this wild journey of motherhood and figure it out one step at a time.
