What Could It Be—and Why Is It Under My Bed?
“If everything has a frequency and its own field of frequency, then we are connecting into multiple frequencies at all times.”
— Davindia Steele

Your child swears there’s something under the bed.
You look. Nothing’s there.
But before deciding it’s an overactive imagination—or something paranormal—consider another possibility:
What if your child really is feeling something?
Electromagnetic fields, or EMFs, occur naturally in our environment and are also produced by electricity, wiring and electronics. Our physical bodies have their own field as well. When different frequencies come into contact, I think of it much like musical tones creating an overtone. The result can be pleasing, neutral or unpleasant.
We recognize this intuitively when we describe someone or someplace as having “good vibes” or “bad vibes.” We’re describing something we feel even when we can’t immediately identify why.
Children—especially sensitive children—may feel those subtle differences without having the language or experience to interpret them.
When my son Jadon was young, he came out of his bedroom one night insisting there was “someone” under his bed. Instead of dismissing him, I went back with him and asked him to show me exactly where he felt it.

His bed was pushed against an electrical outlet.
We moved the bed.
The feeling disappeared, and he went to sleep.
Does that mean every boogieman is an electromagnetic field? Of course not. Nor am I ruling out the paranormal.
The point is to investigate before you invalidate.
If your child repeatedly feels uneasy in a particular place, explore the environment with them. Where exactly do they feel it? What’s nearby? Does the feeling change when they move?
Sometimes the most powerful thing we can teach a frightened child isn’t, “There’s nothing there.”
It’s, “I believe that you’re feeling something. Let’s figure out together what it might be.”
I’d love to hear from you! Have thoughts, questions, or just need another mama’s perspective? Drop me a line and let’s connect—together, we can navigate this wild journey of motherhood and figure it out one step at a time.
